The actual output of steel bars in May was 3.145 million tons, an increase of about 156,000 tons from April; the planned production of steel mills in June was 3.178 million tons, an increase of about 33,000 tons from May. Capacity utilization was 66.4%, up 3.3% from April and down 2.2% from a year earlier.

In June, the production of steel bars is expected to be 3.178 million tons, and the estimated capacity utilization rate is 67.1%, which is 0.7% higher than the actual capacity utilization rate in May.
The total inventory of steel mills was 941,000 tons, a decrease of 299,000 tons from the end of April, and a month-on-month decrease of 24.1%; the total inventory decreased by 1,000 tons compared with the same period last year, a decrease of 0.1% year-on-year.

As of May 31, the total inventory of sample excellent and special steel plants nationwide was 941,000 tons, a decrease of 299,000 tons from the end of April, and a month-on-month decrease of 24.1%; the total inventory decreased by 1,000 tons compared with the same period last year, a year-on-year decrease of 0.1% , as shown in Figure 2:

2. Look at the production and inventory situation in May by region
In terms of sub-regions, the national capacity utilization rate in May increased by 3.30% compared with that in April. Except for the slight decrease in the northwest, the northeast, north, east and central regions increased to varying degrees; in terms of inventory, the national inventory at the end of May decreased by 29.9% compared with the end of April. 10,000 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 24.1%, of which inventories in the northeast and southwest regions increased, and the rest of the regions all decreased to varying degrees.

3. Production reduction and maintenance of steel production enterprises in June 2020
In June, 2 domestic steel mills overhauled and reduced production:
Zhongtian started to overhaul the two bar lines on May 20 for a period of 12 days, and is expected to resume production on June 3. In June, the small stick is expected to be overhauled for 5 days, and the overhaul time is undetermined, which is expected to affect the output of 7-0.8 million tons.
